Hi! Welcome back! In this post, I will talk about my experience with a recent research assessment, and how I feel my ISM journey has been progressing.
It has been nearly two months since school started, and ISM has been thought-provoking. I recently conducted an in-depth research assessment (the fifth one) and have been able to connect my learning to the real world.
When I researched for another paper to assess, I faced a small difficulty in finding articles on my specific topic, Data-driven business marketing. However, I quickly realized that I would have to narrow the search criteria by focusing on definite aspects -- such as a specific social media app or certain outcome. This led me to discover an article titled “Unlocking the power of Twitter communities for startups.” (Peixoto) I was immediately intrigued by the abstract of the paper, and thought to myself, this is what I was looking for.
The article talked about how we can analyze Twitter data such as follows, followers, likes, and other categories of data to help effectivize a startup's brand presence. This report specifically spoke to me almost as if I was meant to find it and is exactly why I applied for ISM. I wanted to learn how to leverage data to make better
©Business Insider business decisions and ideate my personal startup's digital identity. I continued to read and annotate the article after transferring it to a Google document and did not even realize it was over 30 pages long.
This leads me to talk about my experience with the ISM journey so far. I knew from the moment I was selected that ISM would be demanding and time-consuming but worth it, and I can now say that it has been worth it. It has been worth the long hours of work each week, however, this work is starting to feel less like a task and more like an opportunity, which ISM is to be.
I feel that every day I spend on expanding my knowledge and learning, I have been able to enhance my time management skills and productivity, and am excited for what I am yet to learn and achieve!
The future is uncertain, but I believe I will be well-equipped to stand out (in a good way) and make an actual change in the world. All good things start at the beginning. There are no shortcuts for anything worth it.
Thank you for reading! I hope to see you back next time.
