Hi! Welcome back! In this post, I will discuss my brief experience of the recent Business Symposium.
The past week of ISM has been enthralling, and I am improving daily. I recently attended the ISM Business Symposium, an almost day-long event of alumni presentations, student networking, professional interviews, etc.
In preparation for the event, I worked on refining my resume, putting together my professional outfit, and coming up with applicable and exciting interview questions. On the same note, I had also brainstormed a rough idea of responses.
As I was going through past research assessments, blog posts, my resume, and other documentation of personal reflection and research, I realized how, somehow, I am not even quite sure how but I always happened to mention my solar power technology startup. Whether it was in research assessments or my ISM application essay, I could connect what I had learned to my company.
As I have continuously stated, the primary intent I came into ISM with was leveraging data to make better decisions, specifically toward my business. However, I wanted to study something other than business analytics specifically. I wanted to hone my skills in all the subcategories of owning and operating a business. I wanted to improve my current company with the skills I learned, as well as apply these skills to future ventures.
The ISM Business Symposium allowed me to expand my networking skills (4 hours worth), interact with professionals in the field, learn what skills they use in their jobs, network with other students, know what they are studying, and more.
The Business Symposium was a starting point for real-world networking and has been a fantastic platform; although socially tiring, it gave me an accurate gist of the natural world and what professionals in various fields, such as corporate finance, human resources, and even other ISM students take part in. My upcoming future holds infinite potential, with all the room in the world to grow, and I have been growing both personally and professionally, something that will fuel a life enriched with success.
Thank you for reading! I hope to see you back next time.
